I realized that I am not the greatest at reading lines for a script during this activity. Which is weird, because I consider myself to be a pretty good actor. I guess I just need to really channel my inner Bradley Cooper when I do this stuff, because I listen back to it and it just sounds bland. I'm going to redo it in the future with better equipment and hopefully a better voice, but I'm happy with the reporter shots I have. There is still very much to learn, and this is far from the smoothest video I've ever seen, but it was still something fun to do. I'll re-upload it in a couple weeks and it will be a completely different tone. It's tough to realize how boring you sound when you're doing it, but I'll learn as I go.

From making the Video Business Card, I learned that it's important to be yourself in everything you publish. Yeah, the video may be a little cheesy, but at least you are being sincere and informing people of who you are and what you do. I found myself asking, "How would I feel if someone I know saw this?", and I think I would be proud of it because it's not just some goofy video I posted, it's real and it's about my life. I had more fun than I expected with the video, mainly because my blooper reel was so long, and I got to do it with my classmates. Overall, I am excited to be putting my work and my face out there.
From making a business card on Canva I learned that becoming a "professional" is enjoyable. The whole time you're doing it you're thinking, "What would this business card look like in someone's hand?" or, "What do I say when I give this to someone?". The answer, for me at least, is that I would be proud of it. Just saying that you have a business card feels good, because even if it's not the best looking, you still have one and that 's more than most people our age can say. Think about how many of your friends have legit, good-looking business cards that weren't for that science fair they went to in ninth grade. Taking steps toward becoming a professional excites me.
In taking this multimedia journalism class, I hope to diversify my skillset as a journalist, and become much better versed in the world of photography, video and data journalism. By bringing a camera to all of my reporting opportunities, I can take the pictures that I want and publish them with my stories. I feel that there is greater satisfaction in taking your own photos for a story, and I think that I will be able to feed off of that and capture great moments. I am studying news/editorial journalism but my head is not set up on being a print journalist. I realize that you can do a variety of things with a journalism degree, and that you don’t always end up where you think you will. I would not shy away from being a commentator or an anchor, and I think my practice will prepare me well for which ever field my opportunities lie.
Mulitimedia journalism is what every modern journalist should be. There are not very many job opportunities for a journalist who can just write, or just take pictures, they need to be able to do it all and wrap it together well. Multimedia journalists are well-versed in photography, video and writing, and know how to put together a good story with the pictures and videos they take. But the meaning of multimedia journalism is really just journalism for everything else. In whatever medium you may work in, there will always be a ton of one thing and not enough of another. For example, if you work at a newspaper, there are already loads of photographers and writers, so the multimedia journalist would be the ones who take video, since they lack video in that department. Multimedia journalists are versatile and adept in all areas of journalism. It's not hard to be an ethical journalist, but you would think it was because of how often you see things like it on Twitter. Most of the pillars of ethics in journalism are just basic ethical things you should not do in real life either. Don't steal other people's work, don't attack someone with words, be careful what you say, and so on. It's simple stuff really. The thing you have to be most careful with is not being a hypocrite, because a hypocrite journalist is news, and it goes viral quick. That goes back to being careful what you say. It's easy to do your job correctly, but when you take shortcuts is when you start to get in trouble. Here's a multimedia story that I really enjoy. https://highline.huffingtonpost.com/articles/en/the-21st-century-gold-rush-refugees/#/niger
